Being lucky

Where ever I go, there is a talk around me as to how I get things easily. Earlier, when people spoke of it, I always felt as if my capability was being questioned. An attack on the country on 26/11 in 2008 made be admit my luck.

On the fateful day, I was at the Oberoi Trident, enjoying the scrumptious meal at Frangipani. I was with a few business guests from HK. The terrorists had already entered the hotel but we are blissfully unaware … my wife called and due to the background hum-dum I walked out to take the call. On my way I see these unruly unkempt people walking in, wondering in my head, wish these politicians spend their black money somewhere else, instead of giving it to these young boys who then run the mafia in Mumbai.

Suddenly, someone grabs me from behind and drags me out of the hotel – from what little I could see it was the hotel guard in white sherwani and red pagdi. After being dragged out – I heard what in my knowledge sounded like fire crackers. But it was blind shooting at Frangipani.

Am I lucky? My wife who had called me at that time - to say that she needed to go and see her gynecologist ASAP as she was probably going into labor - will completely agree.
