Does Technology really help children?

Have you heard of the ipad case that doubles up as a teething toy? I am not sure Steve Jobs envisioned this ever!Fisher Price sells this or $35 as the Laugh and Learn apptivity case!
So Fisher Price follows the method of spelunking, meaning, to explore caves. The company watches children play. A similar strategy has been adopted by other companies including LeapFrog, Hasbro and Crayola too.
The question however remains: do kids really learn a lot from using technology from a young age. In thisĀ article, a doctor (and there always has to be a cynic) says that babies learn best form real toys and real people. They pick up communication skills and learn problem solving skills and technology can never form the perfect substitute!
