Father's Day (By a father)
Ever since I became a father, I am less of a cynic. Before, I pooh-poohed the whole idea of a Father's Day and Mother's day as being merely commercial joys for a retailer. Now, I don't care so much.
This wonderful gooey chocolate cake you see here, was baked by my daughter yesterday. (Yes, Masterchef Junior Australia has had its impact on her!)
So today, I'd like to enlighten fellow male parents.
Father's day was founded in Spokane in Washington by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1910. Her father was a single parent who raised six children. We all know the challenge despite the presence of our better halves. So this is indeed a great tribute.
And to my dad - Happy Father's Day!
