The Ugly Duckling
This story is for the older children who are able to read long sentences. The one thing I liked about the story is its moral: love and appreciate your true self.
This is a tale of a duckling feeling inferior to its peers as it doesn't 'appear' as pretty as they do. The duckling looks so ugly that "even a dog does not want to eat him".Eventually of course and to the surprise of the others, the duckling grows into a beautiful swan.
The story by the Danish Hans Christian Andersen, is a tale that teaches self-esteem and the importance of inner beauty and not concentrate merely on exterior beauty.
To build such qualities in your young ones is quite crucial considering the competition in the current world and the excessive and unnecessary peer pressure.
