This is terrible news, indeed. According to Greenpeace, the NGO that fights for environment protection, a three-fourth toys in Taiwan contain chemicals that could potentially be harmful for children.
So the test has been done on beach balls, toy plastic animals, plastic balls, and children's raincoats. (exhaustive indeed!)
Ann Lee, the official representative from Greenpeace says that when a child wears a raincoat, as they sweat, their body is exposed to the plasticizers which could harm their endocrine system. I believe the Govt rules there also prohibit the use of certain kinds of plasticizers.
Glad for the existence of organizations like Greenpeace!
