What To Learn From Our Children?
Angela Schwindt said,” While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” While I was reading this quote, I realized there are so many things we miss in the entire process of parenting. There are so many things our children teach us and we remain unaware of it. So I thought why not recall some of the things our children tell us every day.
Here are a few of them:
It is okay to cry:
We as adults feel embarrassed to cry. Look at our children; they will exactly behave the way they want to. If they feel bad about anything they will make sure they tell that to you. Why we don’t do it. Don’t you think it is good to show that we are hurt? Cry when you feel like. Show people that they have hurt your feelings. If yes, then do it.
Scream out loud:
My 2 year old daughter loves screaming. She finds it hilarious. After many rounds, it is irritating. I often feel how about trying it once and let everything be out! What say?
Wake up early syndrome:
No matter what happens babies have a habit of waking up early in the morning. I wonder if I could get 2 mins more sleep. The best thing now I realize is, it is good to wake up early. It becomes easy to complete tasks in the early hours of morning. I am hoping to follow this approach soon!
Smile and laugh:
As adults how often do we smile? Look at these tiny tots they smile for no reasons. They have an infectious smile. Let’s take some time out, smile and make it a good day for ourselves and others around us.
Let loose and dress up:
We often think why to dress up. It takes so much time. It is okay to be the way I am. Children love dressing up. They take hours and hours to finally get dress up. They have a completely different mood. What would it be, if we dress up and revive our old memories of dressing up? It would surely bring a smile back on our face.
Indulge guilty free:
It is good to indulge at times. Children love to indulge almost every time and there is no guilt on their face. We as adults feel like doing things. But we become guilt conscious. So just by looking at your child’s face remember it is good to indulge at times. Having a big tub of Gelato is good too!
Follow your passion:
My daughter needs her Barbie doll to sleep with her. The moment anyone tries to take it away, she would end up protesting. If she could take a stand for that little doll, why can’t we. If we feel there is something which is life changing for us, take a stand and fulfill it.
Take some time out from your busy life and look what your child taught you today. Even Paulo Coelho agrees, when he says – “A child can teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires.”
